The Adhar Mountains

The Adhar mountains stretch from the north through to the middle of the continent, dividing west and east. Various peoples reside in the mountains, from dwarves underneath to dragons above and reclusive peoples and monsters on the ground.

Geography

The Adhar Mountains split the continent from the north, until they soften into rolling hills towards the south. The slopes are covered in coniferous woods, where druidic people, elves, and others dwell. Humans tend to stay away from these areas, although as the coniferous woods intermingle with decidious ones there is more safety and thus more people. The mountains in the north are split by fjords that run through. To the north of the mountains are craggy islands that were once part of the mountain range, until the continent split around 650 years ago. All rivers on the continent have their beginnings in the Adhar Mountains, gaining speed and volume as they run down the slopes.

Fauna & Flora

Very high in the range there is no real vegetation, as the highest of the peaks are covered in snow and ice. Further down there are low bushes and moss, hardy plants of different kinds. The slopes high up are covered with coniferous trees like pine and spruce. As the tempereature goes up further down the slopes they intermingle with decidious trees like birch, oak, and aspen. There are reindeer above the tree line, and bears, wolves, and lynxes roam the woods. Moose and deer share the lower woods with foxes, rabbits, and other creatures.
