In an attempt to recreate Pers' abilities to prove their usefulness, the Seaweavers begin to experiment on people that they grab off the streets. The Bloodweavers discover this and send in undercover spies, who gather evidence about the Seaweavers' experiments. The majority of Seaweavers are arrested, and the group is disbanded.

In Pers' absence, the Seaweavers became desperate began attempting to recreate her experiments with Inkweaving, and began grabbing people off the streets to use as test subjects. These experiments did not end well, and ended with many left with damaged bodies and damaged minds, if they lived. At best, the spell was merely cosmetic, or failed entirely and would wash off. At worst, people would die due to the instability of the magic.   When the Bloodweavers became aware of this, they sent several spies into the Seaweavers as new recruits, and gathered evidence of the Seaweaver experiments. In the year 273, the majority of Seaweavers were arrested, disbanding the group for good.
