The first Age on Kol was a short golden age bookended by two great catastrophes - the Great Crush and the Decree of Sin and Firestorm. Every Araphelon played a significant role in the formation and the events of Kol at this time, with 16 of them ruling over the realms of Kol on the Divine Council as gods. Those who sat on the Divine Council could literally control and manipulate the rules that governed the realms of Kol. The remainder of the Araphelons became leaders, kings, queens, and the like.
With gods walking Kol and divine creatures controlling its matters, great empires quickly arose. Clever manipulations from the Yellow King of Citragadda inspired Ahriman, Tanar'ri, and DVon to work together. Their empires secretly created a new race of divine creatures called the Nephals. They also focused on finding magicks and knowledge that defied the rules and boundaries imposed by the Divine Council.
After hundreds of years of secret plotting, DVon, Ahriman, and Tanari'ri attacked the Divine Council, ending a golden era of peace. The Nephals were not just powerful, but frustrated the portfolios of the Araphelons. The gods could no longer defy souls access to rebirth or magic, they would lose control of the weather, and even mind-breaking phenomena became common. A war between the Divine Council and the Nephal filled armies raged on for 20 years.
At some point in their childhood, twin Nephals named Arevay and Mekhila were secretly visited by Auriel as children. Under the former lady of Citragadda's tutoring, they became remarkably powerful witches. The peak of their accomplishments was the destruction of the empires of two gods - Zarus and Det - and their forceful ascension to the Divine Council.
The acension of Arevay and Mekhila caused a ripple in politics of the Divine Council. Arevay and Mekhila were the first gods of Kol to fully understand Citragadda and the potential that existed in that strange, divine realm. The Witches warned that strange godlike creatures ruled over Citragadda and with that ruled over archetypal concepts that transcended realms like Kol, such as light, void, time and fate. The power to maintain these Outer Gods was immense and required the consumption of realms. Kol would be the next realm to be consumed by the Court of Citragadda.
The Divine Council agreed to act swiftly with a plan devised by Mekhila and Arevay. Every god on the Divine Council would lend a portion of their essence to create two great artifacts - the Eldritch Crown and the Autoclave. The Autoclave would attempt to sever the divine and arcane connection that Citragadda and create a new, albeit temporary anchor for the ley lines of Kol. The Eldritch Crown would be the chaotic source of energy sustaining this new world order. This restructuring would also have signficant drawbacks. The witches promised that the best outcomes of fate dictated the near destruction of Kol.
The Divine Council voted to accept Arevay and Mekhila's proposal. They also bullied the witches with heavenly politics. Arevey and Mekhila found themselves hosting over marganlized portfolios and portfolios greatly overlapped with Citragadda. This, however, was anticipated by the witches and a key part of a scheme long hatched by Auriel to reclaim the Court of Citragadda.
The Nigredo Age ended with a great cataclysm called the Decree of Sin and Firestorm. The Araphelon invoked high ritual nearly destroyed everything influenced by the essence of Citragadda. Only a handful of Nephals survived and were so weakened, they spent ages in hiding. Kol itself was physically changed by the cataclysm. The conflict left Kol missing a continent sized hole on its surface. Its pangea super continent also broke away into several smaller continents separated by an ocean. The Araphelons also left Kol and hid in a new divine realm, only returning to Kol periodically and briefly as avatars.
