All Fool's Day

18 October 422 CE

Spooktober 2022, Prompt 05: Misfortune

All Fool's Day is a celebration held in the Nevalon Kingdom on the third day of spring, or 23 March, each year. It is a tradition to inflict minor misfortunes on others so the spirits do not inflict greater misfortunes on them throughout the year. By "getting ahead of the ball" like this, the people of Nevalon believe they are inviting good fortune for the coming year.

Pranks and Practical Jokes

The pranks and jokes pulled by the people of Nevalon are usually harmless. For the more mischevious (and the wealthier), these can include things such as offering a "sweetbread" made with salt instead of sugar. More commonly, though, the pranks are hiding objects such as one of a pair of socks in a hard-to-reach place.
