Dragons

Back in 1999 our world forever changed as otherworldly monsters appeared out of nowhere and started to terrorize humans across the globe. These monsters were the first truly alien lifeforms to enter earth. Their anatomy was like nothing seen before; their bodies not even being made of any materials found in our world and possessing magical powers such as fire, lightning and self restoration. It is theorized that they may come from another universe or plane of existence.
These monsters were quickly given the name “Dragons” for their looks and powers; though they come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and have been given more names and categorisation the name Dragon still holds strong in the common tongue as the name for the alien monsters.

Appearance

White or black dust tightly packed into plates building up the main body. This dust is not made up of atoms when broken up, instead they are made of “words of power”, energy that is the basic building block for all fey life.
Their general shapes ranging between how one might picture a Dragon - some quadrupedal hulks, others resemble more estern style dragons with long bodies. Other bodily features can include wings, golden markings and rings, bright colored “eye gems”, outer plates like betlee wings, horns, etc. As for general size they are most commonly about the size of a van or an elephant. Larger specimens can grow to be the size of blue whales.
Though they vary so much in how they look and what they can do no one would mistake a Dragon for something on earth. Their smooth marble, almost metallic, plates and fantastic features give them the appearance of intricate sculptures. Something between nature and machine.

Perception & Sensory Capabilities

Since Dragons don’t have any body parts that are similar to animals of earth they have very different ways of taking in the world around them. They don’t have a way to take in smells. Eyesight shifts greatly as some have no eyes at all while others have multiple glassy orbs that respond to light. If the Dragon is lighter and a flyer they are more likely to have advanced eye-sight. Just like other fey creatures their bodies have sensory dust, small particles of themselves flying around their bodies. This dust is sensitive to vibration, acting as a hearing mechanism as well as giving detailed information about the surrounding area. They can feel the wind move like sonar and perfect understanding of the dimensions of objects and the relativity to themselves when in their circle of dust. This circle usually has a radius of around 50 meters from the body. Some fey can control their dust and use it for other functions; such as getting into small spaces and then expanding or sacrificing dust to build up and heal the main body.

Dietary Needs

Dragons being fey does not need biological material to sustain themselves. Instead in order to survive in the human realm they hunt humans, as they are the only creature with "solid names" and "language" that mimics that of fey. Usually a Dragon can go 4-6 months after feeding on a single human, but in order to sustain their fey abilities and supernatural powers an excess must be had. It is also via consuming and constantly gaining excess of energy that the Dragons may grow and evolve. Gaining new powers but also increasing its need to feed to sustain itself.

Reproduction

A Dragon with residue energy or cannot sustain its form can split up the energy to lay seeds, the begining of new names that can grow into a new Dragon. For the seed to grow into a Dragon it either needs to be planted on a ley line where it can over time grow and grab on to ancient words. Multiple Dragons can get together to pool energy into a seed, mixing their name bases and abilities for a new from. A Dragon with high amounts of energy can cultivate new Dragons inside of itself, so called Spawnlings.

The Golden Core

The golden core is the heart and brain of the Dragon. It’s where the pure distilled energy of their true name resides. To kill a Dragon you must either destroy the core directly or make it break through straining its power too thin trying to regenerate the body.
The placement of the golden core is not always obvious. Usually it’s in the chest area of where there is the most mass to protect it. Other common placements is the throat area; since it’s through the throat most Fey concentrate and perform magic e.g. fire, lightning, ice or whatever powers that might spawn from their words of power. A throat placed golden core usually means the Dragon has stronger fantastical powers but it’s more exposed then a chest placed core.
When battling a Dragon the first phase is to bring down the Dragons defences and locate the core so it can be destroyed.
