The Enresveil Regalia Stolen!

Life, Crime

822

Quite possibly one of the greatest thefts ever committed was by the thief only known as "Io". At the beginning of the reformation of the Kingdom of Kormyre, the king was gifted a set of artifacts -- a ring, a brooch, and a sword -- forged of Meteoric Mithril and adorned with Starfell Diamonds, by an unknown courtier. These artifacts were noted to have incredible powers and quickly became the symbol of the Monarchy. For each ruler that was crowned, the regalia would be passed down to them. And in the year 822, a thief named "Io", who soon became the most wanted criminal in all the kingdom, had stolen them.

The heist was undoubtedly the most incredible theft ever committed in the kingdom. At the time, King Veleris Mardux IV, ruled the kingdom and was a man of great hubris. He boasted the wealth of the aristocracy and while he cared for his commonfolk, he cared more for the social elite. One such commoner dared to prove that the king's wealth and power were only circumstantial and planned the theft of the Enresveil Regalia.   The sword was kept in the throne room always under watchful guard, while the ring and brooch were worn by the king at all times, only ever removed when he slept or bathed. The only times they were ever together, were when the king was bearing them on his throne. How the thief had stolen these items remains a mystery to this day, as only the ring was ever recovered, but not until the year 1208.   The identity of Io was never discovered, but rumors from the Rogue's Guild of the kingdom over the centuries have indicated that "Io" is not simply one person, but a title passed down from one thief to the next along with the regalia.
