Nathaniel Fallow Character in Knight Realms: Arawyn | World Anvil

Nathaniel Fallow

Very little detail has been known about Fallow in the past. His arrival to Travance was as unexpected as any other monstrous incursion or hapless brigand. However, since his first appearance, he has grown significantly in power, overtaking a large section of the lands of Alisandria and corrupting the land. These have come to be known as the Fields of Fallow. Sporting a strangely eccentric farmland theme to his small necropolis, his undead creations follow suit and yet still strike a great deal of fear with their ferocity. Most notably are his signature creations; Scaremortals. The Scaremortals are scarecrow-like constructs controlled by a necrotic core fueled by living souls.   Lord Fallow himself is a nefarious figure who delights in mixing comedy and terror. From convincing small children to call him “father” while reading bedtime stories, to feeding those same children a living being, Fallow is as monstrous as can be.   His villainous nature is only matched by his insanity. He believes himself to be the true ruler of Travance and has at times fought against the heroes to “reclaim” his “rightful territory”. Notably, in 1207, Fallow marched his army into Travance to be challenged by the leadership of Baron William Montgomery and Ser Malcolm Germaine who served as the battle’s Warlord. Fallow had beaten back the heroes and took the land for some months, where he began to taint the land into his blighted lands, but later that year in June, Travance reclaimed their home and pushed the Lich back to his domain.   Being a Lich, it was suspected that he had a hidden soul cage somewhere, but later discovered that he possessed at least seven, making his defeat all the more difficult. It is unknown how many he has, but at least one has been found and destroyed.
