A Game of Blood Character in Knight Realms: Arawyn | World Anvil

A Game of Blood

“The Twins” - as they’ve been commonly referred to - are a pair shrouded in mystery. Much of what is known about them has come directly from them, and thus not entirely reliable. They claim to be ancients, born just before the founding of the Kormyrian Empire. As well, they claimed to be prodigies in blood magic when they were mere children, draining the blood of rats near their home to perform wondrous feats. Their talent, they believe, led them to believe they had a destiny to fulfill. Over time, these twins expanded their power and mystical knowledge, turning to malicious experimentation. They learned to raise the dead, and even fuse the essence and physical bodies of hapless creatures. This, they’ve claimed, is tied to their purpose in the world and the reason they’ve needed to live for so long. Though, the longevity of their lifespans is still a subject of debate.   Rumors have circulated that they live in a yet undiscovered castle, surrounded by a lake of blood. Their most recent sightings have involved unique circumstances. The first was in a small village, where a local man, Reishta, was given a pair of blades that drained the blood of their victims. Unbeknownst to him, the blood’s essence was transferred to the blades’ sinister creators who used it to create heinous monstrosities for their nefarious dealings. Fortunately for Reishta, he was freed from this torment by a band of heroes.   The second sighting was with a creature called the Gitter. Much like the blades, this creature carried a similar trait in its ability to transfer the essence of blood from its kills to its creators. Despite its defeat, the twins were cited as entertained by the creature’s demise and claimed to return in the future.   The twins have come to be known for their tactics of manipulating their victims into their bidding. With the use of blackmail and threats, they have coerced others into following their agendas. Little else is known about these two, but their desires are quite certainly of a malicious nature.
