The former army of The Gate-Keepers stormed the mountaintop citadel, defeating their former masters and destroying the gate they'd constructed. As her second in command, Inza, slayed the last of the Angels, they cursed the rebels, making them and all their future descendants look like what the Angels hate. The rebels bodies transformed, giving them horns, thicker and strangely colored skin, and bat-like wings.
