A rival culture attempts to seize control.

Various tribes that had survived the wastes for decades without the aid of the Beacons begin to raid villages on the northern borders of the Cieran Kingdoms, taking wealth, captives, and Beacons when they could. These kidnapped Beacons had a lessened impact than they did within the villages of the Cierans, the Krel lacking the knowledge of how to perform the rites used to maintain them.
