Fields of Dust

Near the roots of the world, the Fields of Dust are the places souls go to to be judged and prepare to be sent on to the next life.
Ruled by the goddess Yona, the fields of dust are a large realm lying far underground. Yona's servitors see to the day to day running of the realm. 
The fields of dust are a very dry environment, covered in a thick layer of dust in most places.

Geography

Deep below the surface of Pyroeis, the fields of dust are devoid of life as we know it, instead inhabited by the roving spirits of the dead. Lit by all suffusing glow, an oppressive feeling of melancholy hangs over the entire place.

Ecosystem

The fields of dust have no ecosystem to speak of, though there are rodents and dark birds native to the realm. These creatures appear to survive by pecking at the souls of the departed.

Localized Phenomena

Dust storms and a blood-chilling cold are common conditions that have to be endured by the few living creatures that are capable of reaching this realm.
