Aardmen Species in Kingdoms of the Captive Sea | World Anvil

Aardmen

Commonly called Gnolls, by those that don't know better, Aardmen were created from Hyenas. The term "gnoll" refers, in their language, to someone who eats corpses, which to Aardmen is considered acceptable behavior if they are readily available.   During the War of the Elders, Aardmen were used by the First Couple primarily as shock troops, with the secondary purpose of cleaning up the dead from the battlefield.   In modern times, Aardmen can be found in many different environments. However, as they are predisposed toward laziness, they rarely rise to any great social height, tending instead to occupy the lowest rungs of society, when they even try to fit in.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Aardmen are heavily built for their size, tending towards heavy set. An Aardman will eat nearly anything. Rare and unlucky is the skinny Aardman.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Aardmen have a digestive tract capable of digesting things other species find repulsive. Corpses, rotting food, (normally) poisonous fungus, etc. As such, they WILL eat these things without a second thought.

Behaviour

"Meat is meat and one has to eat" is a common mentality among Aardmen. They care little for what others think of their diet and WILL do things just to gross out those with them.
