Portuguese Republic
The Portuguese Republic is a nation in the Iberian Peninsula, bordering Spain.
History
Following their defeat in the Great War, Portuguese military leaders under the command of Oscar Carmona overthrew the monarchy in 1920. Following which, Portugal formally entered the Spanish Civil War on the side of the Nationalists, invading the declared People's Republic of Galicia, suppressing any separatist sentiments.
With the rise of Benito Mussolini in Italy, Carmona likewise made himself dictator for life, establishing a far-right government aligned with that of Mussolini in Italy and Oswald Mosley in Great Britain. Carmona also joined the Italian led Latin Bloc, hoping to strengthen Portugal's standing in Europe.
