Charles di Borbone

Prince Charles

Prince Charles di Borbone was son of King Charles I of Argentina. He attempted to rule as regent during his father's aloofness, though as an autocrat. This gained him notoriety among all aspects of Argentine culture. After calling for the dissolution of parliament, he was driven back to Parma. While in Italy, he dedicated himself to fight against Italian Unification and the liberalization of the country. In 1854, he was assassinated by a republican revolutionary. He was replaced by his son, Robert, as heir to the throne. The Duchy of Parma was absorbed by the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia.
