Balverines
Balverines are similar to werewolves, and are found in cliff like areas, and woodlands.
Balverines are said to come from a mythic creature called "The Balvorn".
It is said that the Balvorn lived in Albion before any other species lived there, and when they did, Balvorn would feast upon them a thousand times over. It is also said only one man, an elf, ever survived such an attack, and he became the first balverine.
These are all only rumours, and often a warning to people to not go wandering into the woods underprepared.
They share certain similarities with werewolves such as a wolf-like appearance with black or brown fur and piercing yellow eyes, and a noticeable vulnerability to silver, especially silver nitrate, once it is burning.
Balverines are also much stronger than normal humans and even rival ogres in physical strength as displayed by their lean musculature, and unique ability to jump high into the air disappearing for several seconds before landing again.
While wearwolves mostly show some form of intelligence, the balverines do not share this. They determinations are to kill, and to eat, and to survive.
However, it is said a white/silver balverine does have some form of intelligence, whether or not this is true, waits to be confirmed, as no one usually survives a white balverine attack.
How one person becomes a balverine, is unknown.
Balverines tend to use short, fast combo attacks and they can also lunge at you from quite a distance.
White balverines are supposedly normal people who were bitten during a full moon and transformed. They are named for their distinctive white coats, and are larger and stronger than normal balverines. Thus, they often serve as leaders within balverine packs, and can summon lesser balverines at will by howling.
It is also said that Balverines fear Githyanki, due to their use of silver weaponry.
