1574: Declaration of the Realm of Embers
Far west on the continent of Anchorome in the Bay of Balduran was the small Colony of Fort Flame, formed from a failed Flaming Fist Expedition in 1364 DR. From then until the late 1400s, the population was numbered in the 100s, and struggled to keep itself afloat in a hostile land, facing raids from wild Elves and unknown beasts.
It wasnt until the mid 1500s where their population exploded. Refugees fled to Anchorome from the ravaging of the First Red Wizard War, bloating the colony's population to 9,000 by 1560. The Order of Embers, descendants from the Flaming Fist who first landed in Fort Flame, set out a policy of further settlement of surrounding lands to make space for their new residents, creating towns along the coast from the Fort such as New Elturel and Soulshield.
Officially, these new towns and villages operated independently of each other, linked only by their Marshalls being from the Order of Embers. But with renewed raids from the west, further coordination was needed. Delegation from 29 separate settlements met in Fort Flame to discuss terms of uniting into a single realm, and by Late Winter 1574 DR, the Realm of Embers was declared, with Captain Regel Bellanborn becoming the Order's first Guardian of the Realm.
Fort Flame would flourish into a small City by 1812, and the Realm would expand further inwards and along the coastline. It remains as one of the few established nations in the Western Continents, its only equal being the Silver Kingdom in Lopango, Southern Maztica.
