Beholder

Originally born from the eye of a dead god, Beholders are large, spherical creatures with 10 eye stalks and a single large eye in the center of their head. Beholders are intrinsically linked to the Astral Plane, and therefore are able to manipulate it without being fully aware of it. When beholders dream, their dreams often manifest in the Physical Plane. If a Beholder dreams of another Beholder, a new Beholder is born. A Beholder's central eye produces an anti-magic effect, which it uses to disable certain threats. Its 10 eye stalks each produce a different magical effect which it uses in combat. Beholders do not age and do not need to eat to survive, but enjoy feasting upon the dreams (or nightmares) of mortals.
