Other Races in Kiera

Catfolk

Catfolk are a rare sight in Eran Liriandril, though they are encountered sometimes near the pass in the Dragon Spine Mountains. They are very social creatures, and delight in conversing with any people they meet.

Kobolds

Kobolds see themselves as children of the Dragon Gods, and take after the dragons whose coloration they share. Kobolds enjoy complicated feats of engineering, building traps and machinery in their mountainside warrens. This has led to a rather...contentious relationship with the Dwarves who share the mountain ranges with them.

Orcs

After The Fall, the Orcs did not know what to do with themselves. Their one purpose had been to fight back against the Star Elves, and they had failed and been enslaved. Pockets of resistance would pop up before being struck down again but nothing ever stuck. A few decades after The Fall, one Orc had a vision of a greater purpose for him and his tribe. They would be the caretakers of Kiera, ensuring that no such Empire rose again. This was the first Orc Shaman, and they have embraced their new purpose, and renewed faith in the Dragon Gods with zeal.

Tengu

Only one or two Tengu show up in Eran Liriandril every few years, and even then they only come as crew members on trade ships from the South. While they seem amiable enough, they have all adamantly refused to talk about their homeland in any kind of detail. All they will mention is that it is a large nation across the ocean to the South.

Ratfolk

Most often found in the empire to the East of Eran Liriandril along with Catfolk and Lizardfolk, Ratfolk seem to fill a sort of merchant caste or role within the empire. Once a year a Ratfolk caravan will make its way through the pass in the Dragon Spine Mountains, and a Ratfolk ship docks in Al Merentis.

Lizardfolk

Lizardfolk seem to make up the bulk of the armies in the empire to the East. They are often seen as guards with the Ratfolk caravans, or in the ships that dock in Al Merentis. They speak a strange dialect of Draconic, and aren't inclined to speak any other language with outsiders.

Hobgoblins

Where Goblins embraced Chaos, Hobgoblins embraced Order. Where the Orcs embraced Spiritualism, Hobgoblins embraced Even More Order. The Hobgoblins recovered fastest of the three races created by Fuurak. They reorganized into a militaristic meritocracy, where every child born is already a soldier and raised as such. Those who prove themselves are raised up the ranks, and the Hobgoblins that show an aptitude for leadership are trained to improve that talent. A Hobgoblin General is a battle-tested veteran of several skirmishes, and has the scars to prove it.

Leshies

Leshy are found everywhere that Druids are on Kiera. A Druidic ritual creates the vessel, and then a spirit can choose to inhabit it. Most Leshy are created from relatively weak spirits who do not rise to sentience. Rarely however, a Leshy vessel is inhabited by a powerful spirit. This Leshy breaks away from the Druid that created it and is capable of making its own decisions and having its own goals. There is no outer difference between a sentient Leshy and a familiar however, which can cause trouble depending on which region of the world the Leshy visits.
