Dwarves in Kiera

Created by the Dragon God Nulthrek, the Dwarves first grew up in and around the many mountains that he created on Kiera. This instilled in them a love of the underground and caves. For this reason, they were enslaved by the Star Elves to dig out the giant facilities that the Star Elves required for their studies, both magical and ordinary. After The Fall, the Dwarves took back the places they had been forced to dig out and expanded them into proper cities. Even now, the majority of the Dwarven population remains in these places shielded from the light, having adapted to the underground's many difficulties and dangers.

Society

Government

Each mountain range on Kiera is considered, at least by the Dwarves, to be its own Kingdom. Vast underground tunnels connect each city in a kingdom, much like surface roads. A few have been dug out to the surface in order to connect the rare surface Dwarven settlement. These tend to be farming settlements and are considered to still be part of the Dwarven kingdom.

Religion

The Dwarves revere Nulthrek, who they have named Dwarf-Father, above all the other Dragon Gods. His is the grandest temple, the most well-tended wayshrine. The other Dragon Gods are worshiped, and have a definite presence within Dwarven cities. It is, however, much less than Nulthrek's. Once a year, the Dwarves of Kiera will create beautiful art, primarily sculptures and paintings, which they dedicate to a specific Dragon God. Once again, Nulthrek receives the lion's share of dedications. On the day of the Summer Solstice, the art is sacrificed to the dragon it was dedicated to by throwing it into a magma pool located deep in each Dwarven city. The line leading to the pool on these festival days can sometimes stretch throughout the city and beyond, depending on the size of the creations and proximity to a surface settlement. Priests from the surface are charged with bringing the sacrifices from their settlements to the nearest underground city to sacrifice in their pool.

Physical Description

Despite the majority of Dwarves living underground, none are what anyone would call "pale". Their skin ranges from a pale orange to dusky reds with purple undertones. Their eyes glow and seem to shift, as though molten metal flows within them.

Alfrskild, Bok, Magna, Runigott, Troog

Adventurers

Dwarves become adventurers for many reasons. Whether they've struck out on their own in an attempt to find their place in the wider world, or some game of intrigue at court forced them out. Once a Dwarf has found a group they can get along with, they very quickly bond with the other members. This has given them a reputation as steadfast allies, solidly dependable when things get hairy.
