Kassandra is the youngest person to ever hold the title of Strategos in all of Orosian history. That is even true of her today, three years after she attained the position. Though her intelligence, skill, and military record certainly are impressive, she's the first to admit that she did not earn her position through those things, at least not yet. Rather, she was bred and geneamantically engineered specifically to fill the role, and so assumed it as soon as she was legally an adult. Kassandra is the product of a long and obscenely project which was a rare instance of direct cooperation between the aristocracy of Oros and and that of the Shattered Empire. Whenever possible, both of those groups prefer to act through intermediaries when dealing with one another, but Kassandra was deemed too important to trust to any third party. The project was meant to create a dozen metahumans of incredible power, eleven of which would have been given to Oros for their significant contributions, but the greatest of which would have been retained by House Decimus and put forward as a candidate for Imperator. Unfortunately for those goals, Valerian II made his debut only weeks before its completion. House Decimus was among the first to acknowledge his supremacy, and a cadre of super soldiers served better to ingratiate themselves and secure a strong position in his empire rather than a single one who could be seen as a competitor. Oros was happy to accept the cream of the crop instead, having always suspected that the best had always been reserved for the one rather than the eleven. And so the second most impressive candidate for Imperator Resplendens, and technically the heir apparent to the empire is instead a loyal patriot of Oros, commanding its armed forces. There was initially significant pushback to Kassandra's appointment both due to her young age and assumed connections to the Shattered Empire, but the number of detractors decreases at the precise rate that they meet the woman, her competence is obvious and her charisma is world class. In her third year at the top of the Orosian military, there are very few detractors left.
