San Lynna

Demographics

San Lynna is a fairly metropolitan city as a major shipping hub and source of both one of the most valuable commodities in the world and an everlasting source of lucrative and high turnover jobs extracting it. The population skews toward the original Imperial and Sargosan still, but there are few groups not seen on the streets of the City of Whores. The sheer volume of money flowing into the city, along with the one of the deadliest low-skill high-pay jobs on Khthon ensures that the people who live in the city for long are all far wealthier than average. The poor quickly join the ranks of the wealthy or the dead.

Government

The Xirillian Republic appoints governors of its settlements, including its capital, but in practice the governor of San Lynna has always deferred to the Prime Minister in all matters. The obeisance is so universal that there is a state holiday commemorating the execution of the only governor to ever buck the trend.

Defences

San Lynna is significantly more fortified than is usual for a city its size, both to deter another developed power attempting to remove the middle man for their Red Ash supply, and to prevent sacking from the native Aakaipokaiksi Atotáán.

Industry & Trade

The coasts of Xiril are intensely fertile and as the primary port of the area, San Lynna exports an enormous variety of agricultural products and enough manufactured goods to be notable, but there is no confusion: San Lynna is the capital of the Red Ash trade, and it eclipses everything else by leaps and bounds.

Infrastructure

The expense of building a city as large as San Lynna so far from the civilized world in such a short timeframe would quite possibly have broken the back of the empire's economy were it not for its access to Red Ash. Given that, the city more than paid for its own construction well before the it was completed. Despite its agrarian surroundings and the great distance to other cities, the City of Whores has every amenity and service one would expect in a city twice its size.
