Personal history

To the residents of her home city of Oros calling Oreithyia, the most venerable person in the city, young would seem very strange. She is, however, the youngest of her entire species by an order of magnitude. Oreithyia is a Primordial Spirit born many tens of thousands of years after the absolute terminus of what could be called primordial. She is the sister-daughter of Antigone, herself the oldest of all Primordial Spirits and now embodying the human conception of the wilderness. It was through that embodiment that Oreithyia was "born," since the oldest days the island of Kí̱poní̱sos had been preserved from mortal eyes, a holy place of the shaper gods. Finally, the city of Oros was founded, mortal eyes beheld utterly unspoiled territory for perhaps the very last time, and a portion of Antigone branched off, gained its own sentience, and became Oreithyia. The influence of Oros' elven founders went a long way towards smoothing over relations with the newly native spirit, and in fact shaped her personality to become one far gentler and more accommodating of civilization than her elder incarnation. She is more a garden than a forest. Her sovereignty of her island has been enshrined in Orosian law since its founding, and her beneficence towards the people has ensured that there is no will to change it.
Since she seldom leaves her island, which is the least populous and least travelled of the three Oros straddles she interacts with a surprisingly small number of people for living in one of the most populous cities on Khthon. Though the city's administrative district is present on the island, the majority of its landmass remains wild, used by Orosians only as an enormous park and as a place of worship for any number of powerful being, including Oreithyia herself. Mostly it is these visitors to the wild portion of the island that get to interact directly with her, though she has been known to tour the administrative district from time to time.
