Personal history

Matullus of Kasmenetros has utterly embraced his new home and takes great pride in his place there. Likely stemming from the same event, he avoids nearly all mention of his past. Through piecing together rare drunken admissions, and the slightly less guarded accounts of Captain Agamemnon Steel, it is known that Matullus was born Zembostum, supposedly in the mythical city of the dragonborn. He abandoned that name the day he lost his family, who Captain Agamemnon arrived too late to save. Matullus immediately adopted his new name, the only Hellenistic name he knew, in honor of his rescuer and attempted to swear a life-debt to him. This was refused, but Matullus decided to follow the young not-yet-captain home repeatedly making his offer. When they arrived and Matullus displayed his ability to smelt steel, it was finally accepted. His debt and friendship with his rescuer has continued, but the dragonborn is now a fixture in both the economy and social scene of the city. He has complete control over the iron and steel industries and is a regular at every Kasmene tavern at once. Few people are as popular in Kasmenetros, though whether that's because of his steel or his draconic alcohol tolerance is debatable.
