Personal history
The Marquis of Kidak-upon-Styx was not always held in high regard by the Hells. Though he is of Goetian stock, his ancestors went too deep into cover, and his family ceased worship of the Hells generations before his birth. Balthasar was born a household servant for his local nobility, but abandoned his home country due to the prejudice against his heritage and spent most of his natural lifespan in various mercenary companies. Balthasar's greatest enemy throughout his life would be time, expressed most strongly in his own aging. He comes by his epithet honestly, and the deterioration of his good looks and exceptional athleticism ate away at him. He would eventually reconnect with his roots after being mortally wounded in a battle with an opponent he was much more skilled than but who was far younger. He swore eternal service to the Nine in exchange for his life and a return to his prime. His heritage allowed the enormous boon, but he paid for his family's disloyalty in the manner it was expressed: his return to his "prime" restored all of his faculties and physicality, but his apparent age did not match it. So long as he renders leal service to his masters the effect is minimized and he can get away with "distinguished" but should he displease them, all of his years hang heavily upon him once again.
