Persis is a descendent in a direct line of daughters and only children going back to the first madame to pull together an operation in Kasmenetros out of the many camp followers who followed its mercenary founders. That occupation and authority has been passed down along that line and the success have compounded to the point that today Persis has authority over 85% of all Kasmene whores, escorts, and courtesans. Given her own aggressive expansions, it seems entirely possible that she will pass on a complete monopoly to her own daughter. In a city accurately referred to as the Mother of Mercenaries, this alone serves as an incredible source of money, power, and influence but it is not the primary source of any of those things for Persis or her family. It is a somewhat open secret among the powerful and connected in Kasmenetros that hers is a family of powerful witches. It is a significantly less open secret that the source of that power is including the entire population of their employees as unwitting members in what is perhaps the largest coven on Khthon. If there is a generational goal that this power is being accumulated to achieve, beyond the accumulation of power itself, that is a secret with no openness at all.
