Personal history
Ismene was bred in Philosi slave pits that none in the city will acknowledge exist but all know for certain are real. She has the carefully chosen and magically arranged genetics of high nobility, but none of the accompanying authority and even less self determination. Her early life was as horrible as it would be imagined for someone bred in a slave pit, she was groomed in every sense of the word to be a member of a now defunct wrestling school and political party. She gained them enormous notoriety through her successes in the ring and in "entertaining" politicians and dignitaries. It would be one of those dignitaries that would herald the end of this phase of Ismene's life. There was a high ranking priest of the Temple of the Horned Owl visiting the city, and Ismene's handlers set their sights on him. Ismene set her own sights upon him as well, and reached for much more of a connection than she had been ordered to. In the end she was successful and the priest lent her the power of his god to exact vengeance on her handlers, then arranged for her escape from the city. Oros was a natural fit for her once she was free, allowing her to parlay her charisma and assertiveness into power and influence while distancing herself from the violence and aggression she had been forced to rely upon before. She has rejected those old methods emphatically, leaning very hard into soft power and being at least a step removed from any violence that she feels does need to occur. It is a method that has worked well for her, she now sits on the Council of Oros as a key member in one of the primary political parties.
