The Orosian Navy has a long standing tradition that every sailor of the rank of captain or above must serve primarily from a ship, resulting in a huge number of highly decorated and stratified commanders serving in non-combat roles, as well as armies of functionaries and communications staff to relay orders and information between the higher ranking officers on their ships and the navy at large. Captain Mykale distinguished herself so thoroughly in an entirely administrative capacity that she was fully on track to break that tradition and seemingly with more supporters than detractors. In the end she accepted the promotion, but declined to break tradition in a way that earned her nearly universal support: a ship was constructed, christened, and launched for her and then sailed from the drydock to her station where it was promptly pulled from the water and moved inside the base to serve as her mobile office/palanquin. Her high performance and many commendations had already made her quite well known among Orosians, but this new spectacle made her downright famous and even something of a tourist attraction. Recently the captain of Oros' only landship has been assigned the unenviable but critical task of investigating the recent fire at the office of the admiralty which claimed most of the navy's high command. It is no exaggeration to say that the greatest war in the history of Hellenis may well begin on her word.
