Session 0 Paragon Academy Orientation Report

General Summary

After months of preparation and study, our five soon-to-be heroes are poised to embark on their post-secondary education, ready to change the world. Little did they know what awaited them. The new students of Paragon Academy sat down at orientation, bright-eyed and ready. Following a series of presentations and welcoming messages, the night's events unfolded. Students were encouraged to meet professors, take campus tours, and connect with fellow newcomers. Our heroes gathered at a single table, momentarily pausing, unsure of where to start in such an amazing campus. After some prodding, they discovered that all but one of them shared a passion for Harry Potter. It was decided that they would head outside to take a look at the Harry Potter busts showcasing pop culture programs. Leave it to the bugbear to make a mess—oops, we are getting ahead of ourselves. Between Brian and Kaci, the statue fell to the ground with a huge thud. But then, came another. The five friends turned to see a massive, vague, and ethereal form—a swirling mass of energy vaguely shaped like a panda bear, with purple lightning emanating from it. It exuded darkness, chaos, and a mystical aura. Not a single one of them had any idea what that thing might be, but they realized there was a gravity pulling them towards it. In no time at all, everyone found themselves increasingly accelerating as they hurtled towards the shadowy beast, except Connor, who gave in to its calming aura and walked right up.
As soon as the students' bodies came in contact with the beast, they were pulled elastically through that body part into the beast. What they didn't know was that normally, they would be in for a sure and quick death. They could have taken solace in that if they had time to contemplate such things, but today was no normal day.
The heroes found themselves being diverted to a glowing plane where they met their "characters." Our lowly students stood being remade, their bodies merging with their characters, every aspect of themselves melding together. The feelings and emotions of their characters became their lives. They couldn't make out specific details and needed time to sort out what was in their heads. Our heroes started to look the part as they took on the very lives, wants, needs, and loss that all became part of them when they fused together.
"Once they could feel that every part of themselves had a mirror counterpart of their character, they were complete." They popped into existence. Sadly, they each plummeted in with the same velocity they hit the bear with, and with its gravitational force pulling everyone in, kicking or screaming, they came flying out just the same. The dust hardly settles as they each inspect their new bodies and look around the world for a moment. They have found themselves in the small village of Alderstead.
