08 - A Song of Wolfs and Fire
General Summary
The Party travels to find the missing caravan. They are being watched by wolves along their way.
After getting to know Godfrith, the party travels along the road, or better, path, towards Houndsend. Traveling on horses and the stagecoach owned by Julius the party makes good progress.
Tracks on the road and besides the road indicate that a small pack of wolves, some of them very large, about horse sized.
The party travels through the day and rests in the evening. Glowing eyes circle the camp, probably the wolves. Some shenanigans ensue, disturbing the rest of Julius. This messes up the watch roster, but everything works out just fine. During the watch of John he shoots his crossbow at the glowing eyes, missing, but his bolt is greeted with a increase in growls.
Before the end of the night the wolves circling the camp leave and are not seen or noticed during the last watch. After some good breakfast the party takes off again, and after about half a days travel they reach the following scene:
As they approach the lost caravan they see an improvised barricade on the road Scattered around are multiple bodies. One of the oxen that pulled the cart lies nearby, and is dead. The wagon seems to be in decent condition, besides some blood spatter.
Some wolves are at the site, few small ones (3) and a few larger ones (2). They growl and stalk, but don't attack if the party stays at a distance. They seem to be eating the corpse of the dead ox.
John started shooting at the wolves, and a fight started. Julius makes some cool moves, manoeuvering his stagecoach and saving some partymembers. This could have been quite dangerous, but with some luck, and especially a well placed firebomb the wolves retreated. The party licks their wounds and moves towards the remains of the caravan.
