05 - Encounter on the Delilah

General Summary

The adventurers confront two mythical deep sea creatures.

Pilar takes time to read the book with the saga of Ganna Gesh. The book is written in rhyming short stories, quite embelished and not very clear on a first reading. It tells the tale of a Nordheimen explorer who encountered a creature in the seas. The creature was killed by her, but not before it killed her adult son. She was known for her silver bow, with which she slew the creature. The most interesting part of the Saga reads as follows:   In the darkest depths insatiable hunger   With silver's shine, to guide your way   Amidst the seas dread whispers sway,   A lone form tears flesh asunder   Where sword and bow will carve the meat   See the horror of fev’rish dream   Only by pure metals gleam   With wounds severe death will greet     Interpretation of this part of the saga: It's a creature from the sea. You need to be touching silver to see it. Normal weapons can hurt it, but you need silvered weapons to kill it.   The party searches the last room in the bow of the ship on the lower deck. They find some silvered weapons and a stack of frozen bodies. It seems the creature they've spotted before uses this room as a stash of food. The party hears creaking floorboards above them, and sneak up to confront the being.   A big fight starts, and a second creatures climbs aboard the ship. Shots were fired, the huge was loaded and shot but missed. John throws a molotov (badly) and sets a part of the bridge of the ship on fire. Julius sees the creature up close, consuming the chopped off hand, and feels something snap in his mind. The fight goes not that great, the party takes many serious wounds. In the end, thanks to some expert shooting by Pilar, both creatures are dead. One of them tumbles overboard, the other one slowly dissolves in much. Only the hard pieces of his weird bone structure and his giant claw remain. The party figures that the claw could be transformed into a weapon with cold damage by an expert smith.   They lick their wounds, repair the generator, and conclude that the Delilah is still operable. They take the ship back to the Clockwork Colossus, and speak with Kasim. He mentions the return of the Delilah would be greatly appreciated by the owner, even with the damage sustained. Daniel conciders loaning or even owning the Delilah, but the party would have to talk to the owner of the ship.   The party rests after a fine meal prepared by Julius, and wake up envigorated and with new strength. In the distance they see the mouth of the bay where Brasshaven is located. The Clockwork Colossus is expected to arrive before lunchtime this day.
