Automatons
Outer Shell
The outer shell can have many different shapes and take a variety of forms depending on the creator’s design. The materials used can also vary widely, although it is not advised to use magnetic minerals, because it can interfere with the magnetic nature of the “Brain”, which can cause damage or malfunction.
Inner Construct
The inner construct is what makes the Automaton move, what parts of it can move and in what direction/degree. Most artificers are using an inner skeleton made out of metal and make the wanted parts movable with gears that are magical infused through gold wires. There are also some that are looking for more exotic ways to make the movable inner construct.

The core is made of a magic imbued gem surrounded by a lead shell. The lead keeps the magic from being released uncontrolled. Gold wires lead into the shell through small holes which are the transporters of the magic energy through the system.
The gem must be reimbued with magic regularly. Depending on the kind of gem used the capacity of the gem varies.
The “Brain”
The “Brain” is made of a complex adamantine structure, carved with various magical runes which give the Automaton their behaviour and skillset. Depending on placement and type of the rune within the structure one can create numerous possibilities of “programming” an automaton. The rune scribing is constantly developing, revealing more ways of making an automaton act. A lot of researchers are hoping to one day create an automaton which’s acting cannot be told apart from a human…
