Vita (ˈvī-tə)

An energy creating by all living things in the galaxy, Vita is considered separately from other natural energies such as light by its origin and its applications. During the First Age it was soaked up by the Progenitors and their machinery, and thus inaccessible to almost all people of the galaxy, bar a lucky few who fell in blind spots. It was not until the Second Age that the amount of usable Vita in the galaxy begun increasing.
Vita, when accessible to the living beings which create it, has a number of effects. For one, any living being becomes sturdier, for lack of a better word: they instinctively use their internal Vita stores to recover from injuries faster, but also to make themselves tougher, less likely to get injured severely in the first place. Life is better at surviving, at whether things that once would've killed them.
But, aside from that, Vita can also be used by a select number of people to perform extraordinary things. While the name given to these people varies, from a simple Vita-Wielder to a more fantastical Magician or Magic User, one thing is clear: using Vita, these people can perform incredible feats. Seen as not just a form of magic but true magic, these people are often--but not always--placed upon pedestals, considered far more than the average person, regardless of their species.

Manifestation

There is no one way for Vita to be seen. As an energy, produced by all living things, it can't be observed at all. It doesn't manifest in any way that can be perceived. The one exception is those who can manipulate Vita: they can 'feel' it, can sense the streams of Vita, its amount. These people can, by using Vita, visualize it for others, though they do not see Vita itself: they may see what is created with Vita, or they may observe byproducts created by the Vita as it is used: light, or warmth, for example. Like how the light of a lamp produces warmth, so may Vita produce observable byproducts when wielded, but it never does so naturally.

Localization

In areas where Vita was sapped away by Progenitors' machinery, it was completely inaccessible and none could use it. Once the Progenitors were brought down, much of their machinery stopped functioning as well, though it was slower in areas were no one went to destroy them.
With these artificial dead-spots gone, there is Vita everywhere. But, as an energy created by living things, it is strongest in places with much life: be it wild, untouched worlds, or city-planets filled with people.

Above: a diagram showing how living beings create, store, and expel Vita. If their internal stores are not full, it will be used to refill said stores. If they are full, the created Vita is expelled into the environment. They never stop creating Vita, as long as they live.
