Hand Axe of Returning
A Hand Axe, Adamantine +2, Dwarven
Handaxes are very similar to a modern day hatchet in size and shape, two to three feet in overall length. The shaft of this weapon is commonly made of wood, sometimes metal is used, and Adamantine was often used by Dwarven weaponsmiths in days past, this particular axe shaft is made from Adamantine. The blade of these axes usually have one edge, but not always, and the back side is either spiked, unadorned ,or also has an edge too. This particular axe has a spike.
The Axe of Returning is an ancient weapon made completely from Adamantine (a rare metal, expensive, Non Magical costing on average 1500gp, and hard to find), which is a blue-grey colour, single edged with a spiked back side. The shaft has many runes carved upon its surface, which include the makers mark, Clan Sigil, and magical runes that give it the magical properties. When this Axe is thrown it has a minimum range of twenty feet, and a maximum range of sixty feet, even if it misses the target it will return to the hand of the wielder at the end of their combat turn. The total length from blade to shaft end is two and a half feet (2ft 6 inches), it is classed as a light weapon only weighing one pound in weight (1lb), inflicting slashing damage on a hit and a creature must be Attuned to be able to wield it in battle.
The Hand axe is a light weapon, used one-handed, leaving a free-hand for a shield, another weapon, or to grapple an opponent. The wielder would need training to use the axe as an off-hand weapon when wielding another. Hand axes are considered a martial weapon.
It is widely known that Dwarves favour a handaxe as an off-handed weapon and it is a commonly used weapon among human and demi-human races all across the known world of Kelldoria.
