The Midnight Forge

A guild of artificers and alchemists located in Nubis that study the function and creation of, mostly mundane, magic items. They do not share their secrets, but are willing to create specific items for those who can pay. Rates vary depending on item, ranging from 50 gp up to 20,000+ gp.
The guild was formed as a joint business venture between two artificers who realized they had far more to gain by working together than competing. They bought or drove out all other competitors and became the de facto authority on magic item study and creation.
While most of the guild focuses on the creation of helpful, but rather mundane items, such as self-cleaning clothes, there are more ambitious artificers that set goals far loftier, such as magical swords, staves, wands, and armor with a target market of adventurers, nobles, and rulers.
