The Swamp Rats

Holed up in the sewer system of south-eastern Acropolis during the reign of King Amias Lavandin, the Swamp Rats were an underground society filled with enemies of the crown.
They adopted the name given to them as a derogatory nickname by the nobility of the city who looked down on the neighborhood most in the group were forced to call home. The group engages mostly in small feats of subterfuge and sabotage to disrupt the comfort of the royal household while taking care of the many citizens left out to dry by the crown's policies. The group hides in plain sight, mingling with the poor and destitute in Acropolis’ underground Ratway.

The Ratway Massacre of 150AL

In 150AL, Brandash Alkite, Knight-Captain of the Order of the Ruby Rose led a contingent of royal guards and order knights into the Ratway, slaughtering most of the Swamp Rats and all to whom they had been giving refuge. Hundreds of citizens died and, to this day, it is regarded as the deadleist attack against its own people the crown has ever made. While it is possible some of the refugees may have escaped, it is impossible to know for certain who or how many. Records of Ratway residents were never kept to ensure their safety. Of the active agents in 150AL, the only confirmed survivors are Biem, Jox, Pronouns, Aisling Maon, and Graybone Brook.
