The laws and responsibilities of Kaun that all civilians and visitors are required to adhere to. This list is not exhaustive.

General Attitude of Law

Universal rights are given to citizens living in Kaun, as well as assumed to be applicable to those visiting the city-sphere.

1. The right to live reasonably safely in the city.
2. The right for vengeance on those who get in the way of (1), whether through law enforcement, hired help or one's own hands.

Responsibilities

In order for the city-sphere to regain and maintain social stability, all must support the main aim of keeping the peace and supporting the safety of Kaun's general public. Misdemeanours will be assessed against this.

Magical Prohibition

422 - Introduction of laws surrounding magic use  Spellcasters are considered a danger to society, as seen by the events occurring since 420. Spellcasting is risky and has shown to have too much collateral damage to be permitted safely.

Enforcement

By individuals, hired units and primarily the Ironhands . Individuals are allowed to take matters into their own hands as long as they do not disrupt the general peace or exact more vengeance than necessary.

Punishment

Aims of punishment prioritised as: Deterrence, Retribution, Rehabilitation, Protection. Punishments listed below are possibilities that may be carried out by law enforcement, the infamous law firms, or otherwise. The specific punishment generally depends on the severity of the crime.

Learning of Magical Arts without a Licence - blacklisted in both Kaun and the capital, permanent record restricting employment

Spellcasting (casual) - arrest, warning given

Spellcasting (repeated) - arrest, permanent record restricting employment, branding, finger or other minor appendage removed

Spellcasting resulting in damage to people or property - arrest resulting in up to life imprisonment, Duel with Lawyer Firm, branding, finger or other minor appendage removed
