History of the New World

During the Exodus the peoples of the Old World fled through portals created by priests of Caelum. These refugees were fleeing the persecution of the arcane casters that had taken control of governments during the Silence. The priests of Caelum, stripped of their divine powers by the Silence, used holy devices to establish gateways in wilderness areas that connected to the far western shores of the New World. These portals were open for several years before their discovery caused the priests to shut them down.

The First Trial was the signaling of a change within the pantheon of the gods. Holy devices fell from the heavens and the champions of the gods took them up to fight for the fate of humanity. The Trial lasted 3 years when, in a final battle, the last champions stood triumphant.   At the end of the First Trial the champions of good prevailed.

The Second Trial lasted much longer than the First and wreaked chaos across the lands. The champions were more widely varied in their use of powers. In the First Trial the tenants of the gods, and the desire to save humanity, were still strong in the people. By the time of the Second Trial these values had diminished. Some of the champions used the powers of the divine devices to establish themselves as rulers of lands, or to simply create destruction.   At the end of the Second Trial the forces of Evil stood triumphant.

The Third Trial marks the rise of the people and their fight against the forces of evil. The champions of the evil gods contended against each other while those of god worked together.   At the end of the Third Trial the forces of good prevailed.

The Fourth Trial caught many by surprise. The people of the New World had recovered from the devastation of the 3rd Age and had formed stable countries and communities.   At the end of the Fourth Trial the forces of good remained triumphant.

The Dragon Wars marks the return of dragons to the world and the threat that humanity, and their gods, would be at war across the world, and through the heavens. When war seemed imminent the intervention of heroes in far away lands brought down the forces of evil and established peaceful relations between the gods of humanity and the Dragon Gods.
