Malacca

Malacca is a new country formed from the state of the same name when the country of Voldanova fell. During the war with Mordentum the city of Kravari, now the capital of Malacca was a moderate size town that specialized in agricultural goods from Willowburg and the lands surrounding Kravari. Prior to the creation of Voldanova the area consisted of a number of small towns and villages that traded with the city-state of Kravari. It had little in the way of military to provide to the war but sent what it could via the ships of its small navy.
When Voldanova fell the wife of the duke, a strong-willed and popular woman, declared herself queen of the newly formed country of Malacca. She was supported by a number of loyalists and was able to secure her reign fairly quickly.
Over the intervening years Malacca has been quietly working to create a stable government. The creation of Voldanova, pulled together by the powerful personality of Josif Durran, created a shift in power amongst the lands of the Frontier. Many warriors went west to fight Mordentum and either died in the conflict or returned with a higher level of training and expertise. In their absence during the war opportunists moved into positions of power throughout the state. When the kingdom fell Queen Codrin used her loyalists as well as some of the soldiers returning from the war to oust the undesirables.
Malacca has established neutral relations with Durran and Asante but has poor relations with Akkadia. The queen has been successful in enticing a number of graduates from the academy in Akkadia and has set up a small academy herself. Much of her work has been focused on creating safe transportation amongst her cities as well as trade and fishing along the coast.
Malacca has a long border with the elves of Brandui and the two have shared a neutral, indifferent attitude towards each other. The queen, and those before her, looked west for power and were cautious about alienating the Brandui. The city of Kolari lies on the border of Brandui lands and has existed for centuries as a place of trade and diplomacy. In recent years Queen Codrin has begun initiating more active trade with the elves, hoping to entice magical items and knowledge.
