Durran

The lands that are now Durran have always been sparsely populated. It has been the land of the lost. Those people seeking to flee civilization in its higher form and live more simple lives. Only the city of Rosman contained any form of civil government, and that only necessary to provide safety and general services to support the local population.   When Volandova came into being Durran contributed the least number to the armies. Its people had nothing to do with other lands and their struggles. Only the few that knew what would happen if Mordentum gained purchase in the Frontier joined the war.   With the fall of Volandova little changed in Durran. The duke had left Baron Tarana Petru in charge of the state when he went to the gathering in Astarga. When the duke died and Volandova fell the baron stepped right in and declared himself king.   Life has changed little in Durran. It is still the image of frontier life. Much of the forest the covers the country is unexplored and unpopulated. Strange beasts and monsters are known to roam the forests, sometimes striking out at travellers and villages.   In the far north the town of Land's End has, somehow, managed to survive despite its wilderness surroundings. Rumors of strange powers possessed by the baron and his brother are attributed to the survival of the town.   To the east the town of Chack's Ford has found some sort of symmetry with the Brandui Elves. Both humans and elves are known to intermingle on a regular basis and elven crafted goods are carried by eager traders to Rosman, and other countries.   After the fall of Volandova the king of Akkadia declared that the lands of Durran were now his. The new king of Durran was outraged by this act and declared that Akkadia would only have his lands if they came to Rosman and drove him out. This has resulted in negative relations between the two countries and continuous border skirmishes.   Durran has fostered a neutral relationship with Mitanni as their capitals share a common ocean. Trade ships often travel between the two capitals.   Relations with their southern neighbor, Malacca, have been neutral. This is often attributed to the fact that there are no major cities on the coastline. The border line between the two countries is very fluid and neither can identify where one starts and the other ends, other than to say that it is north of Willowburg.
