Akkadia
Akkadia was founded from the state of Akkadia after the fall of Volandova. In the catastrophe of the Beheading the capital city of Astarga was laid waste and much of the army was destroyed. From the wreckage arose a young warrior, Calin Costantine, that had been travelling from a mission to the east and returned with a small army of men that he'd recruited. Amongst them was a group of priests and arcane casters. He immediately stepped in and took control what was left of the government. Costantine was the youngest son of a merchant from far away Vaneca. Many of the priests and arcane casters in his army were family members.
Costantine quickly declared himself king of Akkadia and set about restoring some order to the country. He set his family members to creating temples and academies to train the capable in divine and arcane arts. Over the next five years the city became the center for divine and arcane education across the entire Frontier. While the newly educated were novices there were many of them. All casters, whether divine or arcane, were required to serve in the military, learning survival and weapons skills in the process. The training programs have been successful in bringing many to the country but the graduation rate has not created the volume necessary to field a formidable force. In addition the neighboring countries have bribed and enticed many of the graduates to leave the country and migrate, with the promise of position and power.
Akkadia lost most of its' navy and many merchant ships to Taymyr at the fall of Volandova and while relations with Taymyr were warm the king of Taymyr had refused to return the confiscated ships, citing that they were being used to protect the fledgling countries from Mordentum. Akkadia maintained warm relations with Taymyr for that reason, relying on them to shield Akkadia from Mordentum.
King Costantine has not been particularly popular amongst the lower classes. His focus on magical education has prevented funds and resources from being used to improve conditions outside of the capital. The lower classes are used for supplying food and goods to the military, temples and academy.
Relations with frontier kingdoms other than Taymyr have suffered under the kings focus on magic. Both Mitanni and Durran are openly hostile and are known to raid either overland or by ship. Despite the hostilities the counties have not declared outright war on each other. Malacca has not attacked Akkadia but does not openly deal with them.
