Greyliens

Basic Information

Anatomy

Small, typical aliens which are technologically and psychically adept, although to minor degrees. They have four arms, two of which are smaller and less dexterous. They are highly intelligent and crafty. Being fragile, they are dependent on their abilities and other races for survival. They possess the ability to consume any organic matter and survive off of it, which developed due to the lack of nutrition on their homeworlds.

Genetics and Reproduction

Reproduction occurs through the presence of one female and at least one male. The males separately fertilize the females over the course of a few days when the female is able. The gestation period is just under two months. The child will have traits predominantly from the mother, but will also have a smattering of traits from each of the fathers.

Growth Rate & Stages

At first, young greyliens are raised by each of their parents in rotation until able to care for themselves, which occurs at the age of three. Until the age of maturity, which is 10, greyliens live on their own with occasional help from their community. After this, the greylien is fully grown and capable of contributing towards the next generation of their species.

Ecology and Habitats

Any environment capable of sustaining life is likely suitable for the greyliens. Although they may not look it, the creatures are extremely hardy and able to survive (although perhaps not thrive) in environments with little food, water, or resources.

In times of intense heat, cold, or lack of resources, members of the species will go into a sort of hibernation for up to half of a year

They lag behind the other races by about half a millennium due to scavenging off of the wrecks and discarded technology of their masters.

History

Greyliens originate from a planet full of organic waste and became spacefaring due to reverse engineering technology the Voskren had discarded or lost on their planet. Being dependent on more powerful alien species, they quickly associated themselves with the Voskren as well as, to a small extent, the other alien races before they became dominant. Now they exist all across the galaxy and serve the dominant species while only existing on their own in limited numbers. When the Humans made their first trans-solar expedition, which was a failure due only to an accident caused by Priroen mega-creature having a structure in the way, the Greyliens intervened in order to save the crew and transport them back to Earth. This action was seen as a power move to get a powerful ally on the side of the greyliens and the dominant races proceeded to exterminate or oppress the majority of the Greyliens they had under them, nearly driving them to extinction. They found survival only in hiding, slavery, and serving humans.

The greyliens are the genetic offspring of the Old Ones, but have no knowledge of this. They have been genetically programed to aid any and all species in the galaxy in their efforts to become more powerful. It is possible, even likely, that if enough greyliens were collected and had their DNA sequenced, it would be possible to recreate an Old One from their cumulative genetic information.

Common Myths and Legends

A belief is held among the greyliens that a many-armed god will one day reach down to the greyliens and embrace any who have given themselves to the continuation and betterment of others*.
Some groups believe this only applies to other greyliens, but most believe all races are included.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Typically act as servants or slaves for any of the dominant xeno races due to their inherent weaknesses and desire to have protection from a more powerful alien.
