"AAAAARRRR! KILL 'EM BOIS! RAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" -Hedskar, Dokareχ Tactician

"What pitifully dull creatures. It's a wonder they are able to exist without destroying themselves through sheer stupidity... Come to think of it, they do a fair bit of that as well." -Solar Visicar, in his Encyclopedia Xenos.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dokareχ are sentient (although that term is relative), humanoid, fungal creatures. They grow at a constant rate from the moment they are spawned until they die, with the only 'growth spurts' being just after they've killed another creature. Due to their fungal nature, they are extremely durable. Their skin is as tough as metal armor, most of their body will regrow if damaged, and they can survive conditions which would kill any other living creature, such as having their head chopped off, sucked into a vacuum, and reattached to the wrong body.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dokareχ reproduce asexually when they grow large enough. Upon reaching a size of ten meters tall, Dokarek grow a spire of their fungal flesh out of their backs and down through their feet. This spire will root the Dokareχ in place and eventually release spores which will attatch themselves to almost anything and begin growing. These growths will eventually become Dokareχ, beginning the cycle over again.

Growth Rate & Stages

While they resemble only a large mass of fungal growth fort the first year or two of growth, Dokareχ resemble their adult form from the moment they become sentient. They only grow larger with every day and every opponent killed.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

As individuals, Dokareχ are roughly as intelligent as ancient dogs, though they still possess some ability to speak. In larger groups they become more intelligent - which is likely due to some unknown fungal or psionic processing link. When they are around a Dokare spire (a Dokareχ which has reached full maturity and is reproducing), Dokareχ are at their most intelligent, rivaling that of a toddler. Theoretically, they may become more intelligent than that if they could amass into a large enough group without killing each other.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

If a name is given at all, it normally is limited to one syllable with as many consonants as possible before becoming irritating to the Dokareχ.

Average Technological Level

Dependent on the size of the Dokareχ horde. Most have only primitive technologies while large hordes (in the millions) have basic space flight capabilities.

History

The creatures do not keep a verbal or written history in any capacity, and therefore it is hard to judge their origins or anything other than what is observable. Despite this, the Dokareχ do seem to have a religion which they worship, although the term is loosely applied. They believe they are spawned from a massive fungal planet which gave them sentience in exchange for their violence. The planet died apparently due to invaders, and now the Dokareχ must fight any who stand in their way to either get revenge or bring the planet back to life.
