Stringot
History
Stringot was founded in the tear 253, at the time it was unrecognizable from what it is today. It was small village on a rather large hill, the hill that would eventually become Mt. Denor. Back then it was simple farming town that made what it could off of trade with other cities and few people talked about it let alone traveled there. However over the years it became a larger and larger settlement until it housed nearly 5,000 people. By then Stringot was still a farming town primarily but other trades and guilds had developed and it was a large and famous city, then, in 853, the rumblings began. 4 hours after the first shakings of the scholars that studied the earth and the diviners were able to figure it out, the hill that Stringot stood on was going to erupt. They had little time, they told the lords of Stringot of this and they immediately began to evacuate. There was no time for so many people to get far enough away from the volcano to avoid its eruption entirely, instead the wizards guild of the city banded together to try and create a force wall large enough to keep the erupting lava at bay, unfortunately not everyone had made it out the city by the time they had to begin putting the wall up. Civilians banged in vain against the wall as all those on the safe side of the barrier could do was watch as the lava flowed down the hill towards the edges of the wall to consume the stragglers. Guards kept citizens at bay they tried to get to the wall or even the wizards to try and somehow bring down the barrier to save their families and friends and loved ones from the lava flow. The force wall was kept up for four days, the wizards straining against the magma without rest. Because the lava went upwards rather than outwards because of the force walls Mt. Denor formed into a distinct tall ashen gray and black pillar standing alone on the plains as it is recognized today. During the eruption most of the city was destroyed however a handful of buildings still stood outside where the force wall protected them. Most citizens moved away, finding places to restart their lives after they lost their loved ones to the fires of the earth. But for the ones that stayed, after they finished mourning, they noticed something peculiar about the cool molten rock. Blazing red crystals now known as Anima, flamia had formed inside the newly formed mountain, where they came from varies depending on who is asked, some think they simply came from deep in the earth while others think they formed from the elemental forces combining with the life force of those consumed in the disaster. Regardless of how they formed they were overflowing with magic. It can be used to make anything from potions of vitality to flaming swords and perhaps more. Royalty often pay unfathomable amounts of coin to get their hands on a crown embedded with jewels that can extend their life, and adventurers are often willing to pay any price to get their hands on armor that can protect them from the flames of the plane of fire, and so because of this Stringot went from a farming town to a mining town in a matter of months.
