Properties

Material Characteristics

Animaflamia looks like a translucent gemstone that is orange or red near the outside of it and red or black or both as one looks closer towards the center of any singular gem. Even in its unrefined state it shimmers in the light but once chiseled and carved every edge reflects the light around it and due to its translucent nature light even reflects off of the colors within the gem as if they were jewels within jewels. In addition the shapes that the colors inside the gem change as time goes on, however rarely at a noticeable pace/

Physical & Chemical Properties

This highly magical material is always warm to the touch and when pressure is put upon it the colors inside it shift violently as the intensity of its heat flares. The stone is known to cause fires when handled carelessly, resulting in many gemcarvers burning their hands and at the worst the building they were working in. These magical properties are can be easily but dangerously manipulated to make powerful magic items such as flaming swords and clothes that keep the wearer warm no matter the temperature although many other uses of the stone are constantly being researched and developed with many court wizards working to perfect the life extending properties of the stone, although this effect is known to be possible to obtain how potent it is and how to obtain it is remains vague at best. The most dangerous use of the gemstone is in use as bombs, however this is rarely done due to their value and the difficulty of pulling such a thing off, however in the past raiders and bandits have thrown the gemstone and then thrown something at it in order to shatter it, causing an immense conflagration of fire.
