Hell's Decadence

Although animal hunting is a common profession in Yuruk-Tar people are often far more hesitant to pursue it there than in other areas of the world. Hunters in Yuruk-Tar are bolder and stronger than most common folk and often take precautions that would seem unnecessary or even foolish to those of other continents, however to these hunters would look at those who don't take said precautions as the fools, for in Yuruk-Tar even the usually docile doe can be out for your blood. Pooling up from underground, originating who knows where, Hell's Decadence is a foul smelling black-green sludge with a unique taste. Although it is not exactly common pools of the stuff can show up in regions previously thought to be free of it in days. Although most animals stay clear of it because of its smell and humans avoid it due to the smell and the look of it, insects like flies and dung beetles are attracted to the substance along with a handful of larger carrion eaters like crows and coyotes. When consumed the creature gains a for living flesh with even creatures such as crows attempting to eat snakes or rabbits trying to get even a small tear of flesh off of an elk, obviously to little success. However the main two threats posed by Hell's Decadence are that it is extremely potent and even in small doses, whether in a another creature or diluted in water, are enough for a creature to experience its full affects.

Material Characteristics

Hell's Decadence appears as a blackish-green sludge

Physical & Chemical Properties

Hell's Decadence is acidic to the touch although only mildly, enough to cause irritation but nothing more, further more unless it is extremely cold it is usually warm even at 10°F and only feeling slightly cooler as the temperature drops below that, in addition it's incredibly high boiling point makes it feel only mildly warmer even when heated in a pot above a fire. It also seems to bypass most hydro-phobic materials, soaking through even human skin. Although these properties in and of themselves are interesting Hell's Decadence is most infamous for its magical properties. Whatever or whomever consumes or allows it soak into their skin will become completely obsessed with consuming living flesh, even to the point self-planteration (death from over-eating). Although the creature will eat anything it ate before it was corrupted, if that is all that is available, it will seek out and try to eat still living creatures, losing interest the moment its prey stops moving, even intelligent humanoids and creatures more powerful than it, even if the creature is normally docile. This affect is also known to cause mass-cannibalism in large herds of animals that have been corrupted, and in cases that have since been remembered as tragedies, mass-cannibalism in humanoid settlements. Ordinarily events like these would be rare due to its foul stench however the substance's properties are extremely potent with even a drop in ten gallons of water being known to cause symptoms of corruption, in addition consumption of any creature contaminated with the substance will spread the corruption to the consumer, with the madness often working its way up the food chain from fly, to frog, to snake, to boars, and all the way up to humans.

Compounds

Hell's Decadence has been used in various magical items such as potions and swords. Many alchemists believe the fluid could be used to create a potion that would prevent the user from ever having to eat again although this has never been successfully achieved. Smiths believe that due to its incredibly high boiling point and incredibly low freezing point it could be used in alloying to create something resistant to the elements and durable against harsh fire and cold spells, although once again this has not been perfected. The main result of any experiments using the substance have simply resulted in the same madness, or worse, plaguing the minds of the wielder of consumer, so few but the mad and foolish attempt experiments with it.

Geology & Geography

Hell's Decadence is found exclusively in Yuruk-Tar and is most commonly found in pools on the surface that seem to appear randomly, in truth it has been found that it rises up from underground through unknown means and is feared by miners since despite it being incredibly rare to happen, there have been stories of miners striking a vein of the fluid which poured into the mine, not flooding the cavern but rather corrupting the miners which in the minds of the workers is far worse.

Origin & Source

Hell's Decadence is actually the very blood and bile of the former Demon-Lord Glutnash, who is chained and buried beneath Yuruk-Tar. It is one of his many methods of giving his immeasurable malice form against all creatures who would dare to live upon the land under which he has been imprisoned.
