The Wobble

The world of Kataan, as we know it today, was essentially manufactured by the United Association of Guilds from Taanruk during the early part of the Age of Acquistion. When the UAG acquired the mostly uninhabited world, they set about remaking it to suit their needs. They added four artificial moons to the two natural ones, which of course, created havoc on the surface of the world, wiping out most of the indigenous flora. Manufacturing facilities and living quarters were contructed, partially underground to shelter from the extreme weather conditions, and workers from Taanruk were brought in to colonize the world and handle the manufacture and distribution of its goods throughout Kantostara.
Why go to all this trouble, you might ask? Well, each of the moons contained the raw materials necessary for the manufacture of specific goods, thus eliminating the expense of transporting raw materials over long distances, and the UAG could also exercise a great deal of control over the lives of their workers while simultaneously paying low wages because they were also providing living quarters and various other necessities. Also, Kataan is strategically located at the intersection of several important trade routes, simplifying the process of distribution tremedously.
For generations, Kataan has functioned smoothly as a giant factory and distribution center for the UAG, but as you might imagine, having six moons orbiting your world can be a bit tricky. It requires a delicate balance of precise mathematical calculations to keep everything moving in perfect alignment.
This is where the wobble comes in. Over time, the relentless demands of production have begun to take their toll on this delicate balance causing a tiny wobble in the orbit of one moon. It was so infinitesmal at first, that it couldn't even be detected, but then that tiny wobble spread to the next moon, and the next.
The believers were the first to raise the alarm, but since most people don't really take them seriously, no on paid any attention. As the wobble continued to grow and become more pronounced, tremors were felt on all of the moons and even on Kataan. The already extreme weather patterns on Kataan became more severe, and it was obvious that something was seriously wrong.
Now, both workers and believers alike are desparately appealing to the UAG for help realigning the orbits of Kataan's six moons to restore balance and eliminate the wobble before everything comes crashing together in world-ending destruction, but the UAG has no intention of doing any such thing. The UAG has decided that it just wouldn't be worth the expense to try to correct the problem because they consider Kataan to be expendable. They have other manufactured worlds now with cutting edge technology that are much more profitable than this old prototype, so they will just continue to extract as much as they can in the time that is left and then redistribute their workers and resources to other locations. Those who refuse to leave will simply be abandoned to the merciless wobble.
