The Endless Library

The Endless Library, or sometimes The Library of al Ahrija, is the largest library in the known world, said to be as large as a dragon. Much like the name suggests, many believe the library to be endless, as its goal is to hold all possible knowledge of the world, with its shelves reportedly holding somewhere between 50,000 and 500,000 individual books, scrolls, and pictures, with the library's scholars always welcoming more and more each day.

Scholars

The Scholars of The Endless Library are the caretakers, scribes, and researchers of the library. Scholars are usually bound to the library for life and undergo training for their position during their transition to adulthood. They start as Junior scholars and after their training concludes they are promoted to Scholars. The best of these scholars might be promoted to High Scholars, who are often in charge of one of the wings of The Library or some other important job within the library. These High Scholars may one day become the Elder Scholar, who is the one who runs the entire library and chooses their successor from the High Scholars

Purpose / Function

Originally intended as the bastion of all possible knowledge that could be learned, The Endless Library has been used to contain thousands of books, and its scholars lend out and copy the books, allowing for the information stored within its walls to reach as many people as possible.

History

though its founder is ironically lost to history, it is known that The Endless Library took 30 years to complete before it began to store books within its walls. Since then the library has had numerous expansions, culminating in its modern form with 6 wings devoted to a multitude of topics.
