Kana

Kana is a land defined by gods: built by gods; laid waste by gods; and now abandoned by gods. Once, the legends say, the Old Gods ruled with wisdom and compassion. Their invincibility was unquestioned, and their words were, to those who worshiped them, more real than the sun in the sky. But this would not last.   The Gods began to grow jealous of each other, and while they did not wish to spill the blood of their kin, they had few compunctions about shedding mortal blood. For more than a thousand years, the gods waged war, sacrificing countless millions of their own followers. Then one day, without any warning, they vanished. All of their great wonders crashed to earth, their magics were undone, and their peoples were left adrift.   Though the bloodshed which followed was as nothing compared to that which had been repeated over and over for untold centuries, the orphaned inhabitants of Kana could not turn to the technology of their divine patrons to alleviate their hurts. They could only huddle behind their walls, past glories forgotten, and slowly reclaim their world piece by piece. Some have recovered better than others, and even thrive, making themselves anew in the shadow of the gods.   Now, Kana is a land of great heroes and greater peril. Thought the gods are absent, many have risen, seeking to claim the thrones of heaven for themselves. You are one of these people, and this rising conflict is the Apotheosis War.
