Moon Blindness

Causes

Moon Blindness is a disease that is most common in elderly individuals. As an individual grows older, some of their bodily functions will deteriorate. Moon Blindness is caused when the occipital lobe begins deteriorating before some of the other organs.

Symptoms

Individuals with Moon Blindness lose their sight. Their eyes usually become very milky and pale, appearing similar to the moon. Some believe that people with Moon Blindness have been blessed by Vulon and receive magical blessings from her at the cost of their sight.

Treatment

Once a creature has contracted Moon Blindness, it is nearly impossible to cure. The only known way to do so is to consult a high ranking worshiper of Vulon who can call upon her to heal the creature. This does not always work, however, and it seems that only the most powerful of priests even have a chance of succeeding.

Prognosis

While it is not itself deadly, Moon Blindness often signals the presence of other diseases or the death of the individual.

Affected Groups

Anyone can be affected by Moon Blindness, but it is most common among the elderly.

History

Throughout history there have been very few recorded cases of Moon Blindness. The first known instance of a creature having Moon Blindness was a lunar dragonborn who lived in Ostia. After going blind, the dragonborn reported being able to see glimpses of the world, but they knew what they were seeing was not of the present world. Because of this, a rumor began spreading that Moon Blindness is a blessing from Vulon. The most recent case of Moon Blindness is the Royal Advisor of the Baten Parliament, Wilfried Schuerer, who seems to have a similar ability to glimpse the future.
