Bael
Bael the Arrogant is the Archdevil of the Circle of Pride in the Seven Hells.
In 5160 AW, Bael encountered the Dragon Slayers at the frozen caldera that marks the highest point of the Circle of Pride, and by extension the highest point in all the Seven Hells. In its center he guarded their old friend they'd thought dead: the golden Half-dragon Gillian Pramanë. He was the final devil to offer the party a deal before their escape back to the Material Plane: one party member stays, and in return he would release Gillian and allow the rest to leave with her freely. After an impassioned speech from Varis, son of Varric, this final offer was also their final refusal.
Combat ensued and nearly killed half the party, but in the end they emerged victorious, and Bael's body turned to heap of ash on the ground, blown away by the breeze. Devils are rarely killed (and the only one who would know about any such instances had just forgotten it all), and so it remains unclear what will happen to the Circle of Pride after Bael's "death"--or how they would know for certain if he had really died at all.
